Great Lakes Adventist Academy exists to aid students in becoming responsible, productive, discerning adults with Christ as the center of their lives.

Great Lakes Adventist Academy is an Adventist boarding school for grades 9-12, located in central Michigan, with around  The majority of students live in dorms, although some students live nearby and commute to class daily.

  • Timeline: full school year (August to beginning of June)
  • Location: GLAA is located in central Michigan, in a small town called Cedar Lake. A larger town with Walmart, restaurants, and other stores is about a 20 minute drive away. The campus of GLAA is green and beautiful. Classes are held in the main administration building, and a separate building houses a large gymnasium with basketball, volleyball, racquetball, and a track as well as a gymnastics area. There is also a boys dorm and a girls dorm.  Check out the location on Google Maps!
  • Living Accommodations: Volunteer assistant deans live in a one bedroom apartment attached to the dorm. It has a bathroom and sink, and comes furnished with a bed, couch, desk and chairs. A kitchen downstairs in the dorm can be used by the student missionary deans, and laundry machines are located just down the hall. 
  • Language: English is spoken. 
  • Food: The volunteer dean has free access to cafeteria food, served three times a day.
  • Internet Access: There is wifi and cell phone service on campus.
  • Requirements: At least one year of college experience. 
Position Info
  • Assistant Dean: There are two positions, one for the girls' dorm and one for the boy's dorm. Duties include working alongside the other deans to do room checks, answer phone calls, be in the office for students who want to talk, possibly be a sponsor for an organization on campus (such as SA, music, or  gymnastics), talk to parents, plan and give dorm worships, supervise recreation and supper times, attend events, and generally just be involved. Being a spiritual mentor and friend must go hand in hand with keeping the dorm peaceful and orderly.
