We are part of Renew Spokane, an Urban Center of Influence that seeks to enhance the culture of volunteerism in the church. We desire to provide the world church with examples of churches and members working in collaboration with our conferences to disciple individuals and make new bodies of believers. Our members learn to become catalysts for change in the church and the community. Our internal focus is to encourage our churches to develop personal spirituality and then engage in their communities in ways that provide hope and healing. Our external focus is through various aspects of health and door to door work. We also work to connect through a variety of other types of ministries and desire to bring local Adventist churches together in a collaborative evanagelistic outreach and focus. We start with a 6-week intensive daily training and team building time. We then move directly into service in our churches and communities for the remainder of the volunteer year.

- Average Fundraising Goal: Prices may vary. ~$500. See Student Missions Office.
- Timeline: Commitment is for 1 calendar year, starting in late August and ending in mid-August. There are multiple breaks during the year, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring, and 4th of July weekend.
- Location:
- Spokane Washington, Couer d'Alene Idaho and surrounding communities. Check out the location on Google Maps!
- Living Accommodations: Volunteers will live with local church members. Accommodations may vary based on living situation.
- Language: English.
- Food: Volunteers are responsible for their own meals.
- Internet Access: There is WiFi access at local churches. Living accomodations may also have WiFi depending on the family.
- Requirements: At least one year of college completed. A willingness to go door to door and help with health education.
- Friendship Evangelist - Participate in community based Health Evangelism under the
supervision of a pastor/physician team. Assist with Health Expo Outreach. Daily contact
with assigned interests. Assist individuals with lifestyle change. Train in literature
evangelism to provide access to community (selling will not be involved). Lead church
members in compassionate community service ministry. Specifically target lifestyle
related diseases. Present lifestyle change videos, reading, and practical application
of healthy lifestyle principles that are provided by the program. Give Bible studies.
Relate Bible studies to health and health to Bible studies as taught by pastor and
physician team. Assist with evangelistic meetings, health education meetings, small
group meetings, weekly cooking classes and exercise classes. Teach practical skills
in the home such as cooking, organizing, budgeting, exercising, shopping for a healthy
lifestyle. Work with individuals in their homes on a prolonged basis. Assist in worships,
daily and weekly staff meetings. Work with children's outreach. Assist in production
and publishing of devotional lifestyle change manual for patients. Assist in production
of yearly morning worship book to be published for participants. Video documentation
of the project for publication and assist with social medial and web presence for
outreach.
