As our world faces unprecedented times due to COVID-19, Southern’s Alumni Association remains committed to serving you. First and foremost, please know that we continue to care about and pray for you and your family. We are also actively pursuing ways to support our alumni by providing complimentary resources to help with the emotional, spiritual, and financial challenges you may be currently facing. The following are already available to you as a member of the Alumni Association:

   


CAREER SERVICES

As a member of the Alumni Association, you have lifetime access to utilize free resources provided by Career Services. This includes career counseling, an array of online tools, and assistance with résumés, cover letters, and interviewing skills.

PathwayU

Through this online career counseling resource, users are encouraged to discover their purpose and meaning while exploring occupations and available jobs that align with their interests, personality, and values.

Big Interview

Career Services partners with Big Interview, an online resource for developing better interviewing skills. You’ll receive hands-on practice with mock interviews tailored to your specific industry, job, and experience level. Big Interview goes way beyond the “interview advice” offered elsewhere, providing you with the tools and prompt feedback you need. Big Interview’s proven, systematic system combines expert video lessons and our interactive interview practice tool to help you land the job.

FUTURE SOUTHERN ALUMNI PROGRAM

Through this complimentary program, the Alumni Relations team hopes to excite the children of alumni about their possible future at Southern with a series of age-appropriate birthday gifts. Children can be enrolled in the program at any age, although the child’s age will determine the first gift received.

LECTURE VIDEO SERIES

Watch video presentation of previous speakers from Southern’s various lecture series:

E.A. Anderson Lecture Series is an annual feature of the School of Business. Through these lectures, business and thought leaders from diverse fields share their insight and experience, providing students and others an opportunity to learn from and dialogue with accomplished individuals who are successfully navigating the ever-changing arena of our global economy.

E.O. Grundset Lecture Series is an annual feature of the Biology Department and hosts lectures related to natural history, research, and careers in biology.

Lynn H. Wood Archaeological Museum Lecture Series on the history and archaeology of the ancient Near East hosts leading experts from around the world. The lecture series is designed to highlight the latest archaeological discoveries from the southern Levant, Egypt, Cyprus, and Mesopotamia.

While the Archaeological Museum is currently closed, you can take a 360 Video Exhibit Tour with Michael G. Hasel, PhD, professor in the School of Religion. Click here to watch Hasel share about the museum’s new exhibit: “From Script to Scripture: The History of the Bible.”


MCKEE LIBRARY

Campus librarians have gathered a list of free resources, such as access to databases, ebooks, and journals, available during the pandemic. Click here to learn more.


PRAYER REQUESTS

The Chaplain’s Office invites members of the Southern community to share prayer requests—which their team will pray over—by texting 423.281.8996.


TRANSCRIPT AND DIPLOMA REQUESTS

The Records Office is able to assist alumni with requests for transcripts and diplomas. Email records@southern.edu or call 423.236.2899 to begin this process.


UNIVERSITY ARCHIVES

The Southern Publication Archives is a collection of university publications such as Southern Memories yearbooks (1923-52), Southern Accent student newspapers, and the Legacy collection of student writings through the years published by the English Department. The collection also includes A Century of Challenge, which chronicles the history of Southern.

Columns is the official magazine of Southern Adventist University, produced by Marketing and University Relations to provide information to alumni and other friends of the university. Your feedback is always welcome at columns@southern.edu.
