2021-2022 Annual Report
One Gracious Blessing After Another!
As valued members of our Southern family, you are one of our blessings! Your support
and engagement made the Southern Experience possible for many students, as you will see in this year's Annual Report.
I hope you will take time to read about the amazing things God did for Southern this
past year through your faithful generosity.
As a bonus, I invite you to join me in a Virtual Town Hall on September 13 (8 pm EST)
where I'll elaborate on a few of my favorite stories from the Annual Report and answer
some of your questions about Southern.
With gratitude,
President Ken Shaw, '80, EdD

Zoom with Students Serving Abroad
Two of Southern's student missionaries this year, Kareena Hansen (Zambia) and Jackson Robison (Egypt), invite you to step inside their new homes-away-from-home via live Zoom conversations on Sept. 25. They'll share about their service work, show you around their sites, and field questions.
Southern Scholar: Studies Enriched By Time in Scotland
Taking a two-week literature course during the summer of 2021 at the University of
Edinburgh was an adventure of personal discovery for Julia Ciasca, '22, a graduate
with degrees in business administration and accounting.
Ciasca was stretched academically and personally.
“This experience challenged me to figure out who I am, what I believe, and how I can
be a witness outside the ‘Adventist bubble’ I’ve been in,” she says. “It was just
the most perfect experience.”
Ciasca collected some of her favorite photos from Scotland to create a photo gallery
(with audio narration) for Annual Report readers.
Stepping Into the Ukraine Crisis
The tragedy unfolding in Europe deeply moved Southern’s community. As a result, 23 university students and sponsors joined the Adventist Medical Evangelism Network (AMEN) team providing support for a medical and dental clinic serving refugees in Romania.

PLANNED GIVING TRANSFORMS LIVES
The Legacy Society, comprised of donors who have included Southern in estate plans or other planned gifts, assists students in several ways -- most frequently through scholarships. Students are forever grateful and enjoy expressing their gratitude and sharing their stories.
