Covid-19 Updates and Resources

Last Updated June 3, 2020
Southern Adventist University is dedicated to the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff. The University Health Center continues to monitor updates relating to the spread of the new coronavirus disease, COVID-19.
  • No COVID-19 cases have been reported at Southern Adventist University.
  • May graduation is rescheduled for August 9, 2020 on Southern's campus. On May 10, we celebrated with our seniors virtually in the Party Before the March.
  • Summer sessions are being offered online.
  • For new students, Southern is offering a free class in ANY summer session in lieu of the usual SmartStart program. Visit southern.edu/smartstart for more information and southern.edu/apply to begin the process.
  • Southern will resume on-campus classes for the Fall 2020 semester, which begins August 24 (new students should arrive August 14 or 16).
  • A special task force has been meeting regularly, developing a plan for a phased re-opening of campus over the summer, which will begin June 15 (employee details in the Communication Archive).
  • Campus is currently closed to all but essential activities, and most of Southern's employees are working remotely. However, Southern remains fully operational, offering students the same care and support that we always aim to provide.
  • International students with a pressing need have been allowed to stay on campus.
