Lightboard resources
A lightboard is like a whiteboard, except everyone is facing towards what is written on the lightboard, and looking towards each other.
A teacher may chose the lightboard technique to guide students through detailed technical material by maintaining a human connection and a greater sense of immediacy. Especially in STEM classes, students can benefit from adding a full range of expression.
DIGITAL LIGHTBOARD
Do you wish that you could employ this technique, but cost or convenience are a barrier? Consider starting with a "digital lightboard". All that is required is a webcam and a drawing tablet and software such as the free, open source OBS Studio. You can do something similar from your desk today! See this 11 minute introduction video, and for more information see Prof. Laing’s outreach page, DiEScL [insert link].
USING THE PHYSICAL LIGHTBOARD AT SOUTHERN ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY
Five minutes! One topic, one board, stop. So says Professor Michael Peshkin, co-inventor of the lightboard.
