What is THRIVE?
THRIVE is a federally funded TRIO SSS (Student Support Services) initiative through the United States Department of Education. Each year, THRIVE serves 140 students at Southern Adventist University. 
Who Qualifies for THRIVE?

To be eligible for THRIVE, individuals must be: 

  1. A U.S. citizen or meet the residency requirements for federal student financial assistance. 
  1. Admitted to Southern Adventist University. 
  1. Committed to succeeding in college. 
  1. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree. 

 In addition, ONE or more of the following criteria must be met: 

  • Neither of your parents graduated with a four-year college degree. 
  • You have a documented disability. 
What Services are Provided?

Students who are accepted into THRIVE gain access to additional support services, including dedicated peer mentors and math and writing tutoring tailored to help you succeed academically and professionally.  

Services provided include: 

  • Academic Tutoring and Support 
  • Assistance in Course Selection 
  • Career Exploration 
  • Cultural and Academic Enrichment 
  • Financial and Economic Literacy Education 
  • Financial Aid Information 
  • Counseling and Assistance 
  • Grant-Aid to Students 
  • Graduate/Professional School Assistance 
  • Individualized Counseling 
  • Mentoring Program 
  • Referrals to Other Service Providers
