Cheri Durst has many and varied interests, not the least of which is developing meaningful relationships with students. As First Year Advising coordinator, she is among the first to reach out to incoming students and their parents to offer assistance with registering for classes and answering general questions. In addition, her role on the First Year Experience team provides the perfect opportunity to do what she does best, encourage and support students who are transitioning to university life. She is also a certified Global Career Development Facilitator and enjoys providing career advising services for freshmen.
Cheri earned her Master’s degree in Career and Technical Education from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. She is a licensed Respiratory Therapist and served as Clinical Coordinator for Ferris’ Respiratory Therapy program before moving to Tennessee in 2009. She is also a currently practicing Massage Therapist.
Cheri and her husband Doug have two daughters who have graduated from Southern. Cheri loves spending time with her family and enjoying her country home.
