Questions about university-owned employee housing? You've come to the right place.
Do I qualify for employee housing?
You must be an full-time employee.
Who can live with me?
Immediate family only. This includes spouse, children, and parents.
How do i apply for university employee housing?
1. Be offered a full-time position at Southern.

What is the housing deposit?
A non-refundable deposit of $500 will need to be paid to the accounting office
within the first month of moving in.
How do I pay my rent?
Your rent is charged through payroll. It is split between the first two paychecks
each month.
Are pets allowed?
Yes. Up to 2 pets are allowed. There will be an additional $500 non-refundable
deposit, and a $25 increase in rent per pet per month.
What is the check-in process?
1. Sign the rental agreement

What should I do if I am arriving on campus when the housing office is closed?
If you plan to arrive on campus on the weekend or after office hours, make prior arrangements
to have a key to pick up from an alternate location on your arrival.
What is the process for approval of an emotional support animal in employee housing?
Obtaining approval to have an emotional support animal (ESA) in Southern housing is
a two-step process that involves determination of whether a resident qualifies for
an ESA and approval of the animal. The process can be completed through Disability
Support Services or you can request the non-traditional housing office to process
the request if there is a conflict of interest. Full approval must be obtained in
writing from Disability Support Services or Non-traditional Housing before the animal
is brought into housing. Complete information and forms are on the Disability Support Services website.
Am I charged a full month if I am in university housing for a partial month?
No. Charges are prorated to begin the day you gain access to the apartment and end
the day of your final walk through and key return.
What utilities are included in my rent?
Included utilities vary by unit. See the description for each unit on the employee
housing webpage for details on each unit.
Are housing units furnished?
No. Employee housing units come unfurnished.
How will I receive U.S. mail?
