Honored Alumni Awards
The Alumni Association has a long-standing tradition of recognizing outstanding alumni whose known accomplishments have gone above-and-beyond in their profession and/or service to others. The selected recipients of these awards serve as ambassadors of the university and the Alumni Association.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
The Distinguished Service Award recognizes special individuals who have given exceptional service above and beyond the average in the workplace and/or community. They should exemplify Southern at its best. They should be a Southern alumnus/na and exhibit Southern’s Core Values by living a Christ-centered, balanced life of service.
ALUMNUS/ALUMNA OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Alumnus/na of the Year Award recognizes special individuals who have made significant contributions above and beyond in their area of professional expertise. They should exemplify Southern at its best. They should be a Southern alumnus/na and exhibit Southern’s Core Values by living a Christ-centered, balanced life of service.
YOUNG ALUMNUS/ALUMNA OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Young Alumnus/na of the Year Award recognizes special individuals who have made significant contributions above and beyond the average in their workplace and/or community. They should exemplify Southern at its best. They will have graduated or attended Southern within the past ten years and exhibit Southern’s Core Values by living a Christ-centered, balanced life of service.
GRADUATE STUDIES ALUMNUS/ALUMNA OF THE YEAR AWARD
The Graduate Studies Alumnus/na of the Year Award recognizes special individuals who have made significant contributions above and beyond in their workplace and/or community. They should exemplify Southern at its best. They should have completed a degree through one of Southern’s graduate studies programs and exhibit Southern’s Core Values by living a Christ-centered, balanced life of service.
THE SELECTION PROCESS
Nominations for these awards are solicited from members of the Alumni Association at large and university academic areas. The Alumni Council then reviews the nominations and selects candidates who are deemed most deserving of recognition and whose achievements most closely fit the category for which they have been nominated.
