Alumni Mentorship
Mentorship Platform
The Southern alumni mentorship experience is designed to foster meaningful connections
that support growth, learning, and lifelong success. Whether you're sharing your expertise
as a mentor or seeking guidance as a mentee, the most rewarding mentorships are built
on trust, communication, and mutual engagement. By investing in the relationship and
learning from one another's experiences, mentors and mentees can create lasting connections
that extend far beyond a single conversation.

Guidelines
Guidelines for Mentors
- Be supportive and encouraging. Your mentee is looking to you for guidance and support, so it's important to be positive and constructive. Let them know that you believe in them and that you are there to help them succeed.
- Be honest and constructive with your feedback. It's important to be honest with your mentee about their strengths and weaknesses, but it's also important to be constructive in your feedback. Offer specific advice and suggestions on how they can improve.
- Be flexible and understanding. Your mentee is a busy student, so it's important to be flexible and understanding with their time. Be willing to meet at a time that is convenient for them, and be understanding if they have to cancel or reschedule at the last minute.
- Be respectful of your mentee's time and commitments. Your mentee has a lot on their plate, so it's important to be respectful of their time and commitments. Don't overload them with assignments or tasks, and be sure to give them plenty of time to complete their work.
- Celebrate your mentee's successes. When your mentee achieves a goal, be sure to celebrate their success with them. This will help them to stay motivated and on track.
- Don't use this as an advertising platform. The intent of this mentorship platform is to provide alumni a way to support each other. Please do not use it as an opportunity to mass promote your goods/services.
Guidelines for Mentees
- Be proactive and reach out to your mentor regularly. Don't wait for your mentor to reach out to you. Take the initiative to schedule regular meetings and check-ins. This will help you to stay on track and get the most out of your mentorship.
- Be clear about your goals and expectations. Let your mentor know what you hope to achieve through the mentorship. Be specific about your goals and expectations, and be open to feedback and suggestions.
- Be open to feedback and advice. Your mentor is there to help you grow and develop. Be open to their feedback and suggestions, even if they are challenging.
- Be respectful of your mentor's time and commitments. Your mentor is a busy professional, so it's important to be respectful of their time and commitments. Be on time for meetings, and be prepared to work hard.
- Thank your mentor for their support. Let your mentor know how much you appreciate their support and guidance. This will help to strengthen your relationship and make the mentorship more rewarding for both of you.
