BS Nursing Degree

The School of Nursing now offers two pre-licensure pathways to become a Registered Nurse: AS/BSN and BSN.

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) articulated program is designed to provide a seamless transition from the AS to the BSN. The BSN program offers three options: on campus, online, and consortium, that can be completed in two or more semesters depending on the general education/cognate requirements needed. Transfer students who are graduates of ACEN accredited Associate and Diploma Nursing Programs may apply for acceptance into the BSN nursing program.

The BSN program is designed as a five-semester program, with entry in semester four of a traditional eight-semester college experience. The student will enter with approximately 40-45 credit hours earned, including most general education and cognate courses. The BSN curriculum is rich with skills, simulation, and clinical experiences that immediately allow the student to apply theory to practice.

The BSN program at Southern Adventist University located in Collegedale, Tennessee is accredited by the Acceditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN), 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400, Atlanta, GA 30326, (404)975-5000.

The most recent accreditation decision made by the ACEN Board of Commissioners for the BSN program is Continuing Accreditation.

The BSN program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing (615)532-9223.

The BSN program is designed to provide a Christian learning environment that nurtures a culture of integrity and academic excellence and prepares caring, competent professionals to serve the diverse health care needs of individuals, families, and communities within a global context.

Admission to the BSN takes place each winter semester, while admission to the AS program occurs each fall and winter semesters.
