NAD Campus Ministries Convention

How do we personally and professionally develop campus ministry and missions leaders for transformative impact on our campuses and beyond?

  • Inspire

Through authentic corporate and private worship for spiritual growth and renewal.

  • Connect

Networking with other campus leaders, both students and chaplains, in order to foster a sense of community, encouragement, resources, and support.

  • Equip

Providing professional training that will impact every leader’s personal and professional areas of influence in college and beyond.

NADCMC Guidelines

Length of Convention

Two full days plus a Sabbath, arriving evening before and leaving morning after.  Typically, a Wednesday evening through Saturday night schedule.

Cost

Keep costs for the conference as low as possible in order to encourage as much participation as possible from every NAD campus. Generally $250 depending on possible contributions from outside donors.

Content
  • Equip current student leaders for their work during the school year and beyond by creating strong networks and succession planning models.

  • Provide professional/leadership development opportunities for students AND chaplains

  • Focus on doing what we as campuses do really well, and avoid pressure to promote one school over any other, or create a Wow factor that isn’t truly authentic to our ministries.

  • Create space for personal time for spiritual growth and renewal for all participants

Location of Convention
Over the years, we have determined as a council that a summer camp setting works best for our mission to inspire, connect, and equip during this convention. Beautiful scenery, outside of the noise of the town, away from our campuses gives us the greatest possibility of connecting with one another and Jesus in truly meaningful ways. Selecting a camp that also has conference lodging accomodations better meets the needs of our entire group as not everyone is suited to sleep well on a bunk bed. Cohutta Springs in Georgia-Cumberland Conference or Rosario Beach owned by Walla Walla University are great examples of camps that provides great accomodations.
Programming
  • General Sessions: Twice a day we will all meet together for worship and inspiration from our own Chaplains.
  • Forums: Student leaders get to choose from a few options in an area to help you develop and grow as a leader.
  • Ministry Breakouts: Meet with student leaders from your area or interest of ministry. Share ideas, encourage, and pray for each other.
  • Campus Application Discussion: Meet with your campus chaplain(s) and ministry team to reflect on what you’ve learned.

Have you ever been to an event that was suppose to be restful but turned out to be just a bunch of meetings? CMC is a time to gather corporately, and rest in the refueling presence of God personally as well. Planning a thoughtful schedule is key to accomplishing this.

One of the things that makes CMC such a rich experience is connecting with chaplains from our college and university campuses. Their diverse, expert, wealth of knowledge and love for Jesus is often shared at general sessions or forums.
