Dr. Kurt Miyashiro
School of Music's Associate Professor
Dr. Miyashiro received his bachelor’s degree from Pacific Union College. He went on
to earn a master’s degree from California State University, Chico, and a Ph.D. in
composition from the University of Minnesota. He is passionate about making and learning
about music, and hopes to share that passion with others.
When not teaching or preparing for classes, Kurt enjoys composing for a wide range
of media. He finds great satisfaction in helping students open their own doors into
the world of composing. Kurt also enjoys the outdoors, where he can often be found
hiking or foraging for wild edibles and mushrooms.
