Foundation-Level Placement for MSW
The Foundation Level is the first phase of the MSW program for students who do not hold a CSWE-accredited BSW or whose previous coursework does not meet advanced standing criteria. It is designed to build the core knowledge and generalist practice skills needed before progressing into specialized or advanced study.
At the Foundation Level, students focus on generalist practice and are introduced to the values, theories, and skills needed to work ethically and effectively with diverse populations across a variety of settings.
Admissions Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university
Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.00. Applicants with a lower GPA may be considered for provisional admission
Two professional recommendations from college professors or work supervisors
Submit a professional statement describing the applicant’s motivation for pursuing graduate study in social work. Statement guidelines will be provided
Submit an updated professional résumé

Full-Time
The foundation-level placement full-time option is designed for students new to social work who want to complete their foundational coursework and field practicum at an accelerated pace. Through immersive classes, hands-on field experience, and close faculty mentorship, students build strong generalist skills and prepare confidently for advanced MSW study and professional practice.

Part-Time
The foundation-level placement part-time option is designed for students new to social work who need flexibility while building core skills. Students complete foundational coursework and field practicum at a manageable pace, balancing work and personal responsibilities. With supportive faculty and hands-on experience, this pathway builds a strong generalist foundation for advanced MSW study.
