New Student Orientation

Main Event Arrival Dates

July 25th - Smart Start Students

August 16 - Fall Jumpstart, BIOS, and other Fall Students
This is your one-stop shop for all enrollment activities!

All freshman and transfer students (including locals from Collegedale and surrounding cities) must sign in and visit the support stations and academic booths before checking into campus housing. Attendance is mandatory!

New Student Orientation Information:
  • Incoming freshman and transfer students will have access to the virtual portion of New Student Orientation starting July 1st.
  • Use your student access name and password to log into eClass on Southern’s website. Go to https://eclass.e.southern.edu/ to find your orientation details and requirements.
  • Virtual orientation includes short videos and documents providing essential information about campus life for students who are new to Southern. Once you complete an item, the next video or task will appear. Additionally, there will be checkpoints throughout the online program with questions to test your understanding and comprehension.
  • Once you arrive on campus and check in at the Main Event, you will receive your schedule for the remaining mandatory, in-person orientation activities.  Completing orientation will account for 10% of your grade in the required Southern Connections (NON-D 101) class.
  • Both portions of New Student Orientation––on-line and on-campus––must be completed by Sunday, August 22, before Fall Semester 2021 begins.
