What is Southern Adventist University known for?
Southern Adventist University is a co-educational institution established by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, offering doctoral, master’s, baccalaureate, associate degrees, and one-year certificates. Various delivery modalities (face-to-face, online, hybrid and other) are employed in order to effectively support learners enrolled in the university’s classes and programs.

Is Southern Adventist University accredited?
Yes, Southern Adventist University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), the Adventist Accrediting Association (AAA). These accreditations indicate that the university meets established standards for quality and is recognized to award associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.

In addition, schools and departments of the University are also accredited by various organizations as follows:

  • School of Business:International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE)
  • School of Education, Psychology, and Counseling:
    • Counseling: Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

What are the University's Graduate Admission Requirements?

Applicants must submit the following materials to be considered for admission:

  • Graduate application form (available online at southern.edu/graduatestudies).
  • Non-refundable application fee.
  • Official transcript from the undergraduate school granting the undergraduate degree and all relevant undergraduate transcripts from schools attended. A minimum GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) is required for regular admission to a graduate program.
  • Professional recommendations as requested by the respective School.
  • Additional materials as required by the respective School. Please refer to the School admission requirements page for specific requirements.
Is the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Required?
No, the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required for any graduate program at Southern Adventist University.  However, the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) remains a requirement for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) unless the applicant has a 3.25 GPA, or a 3.0 GPA plus five years of full-time business experience.
