Component Library

This page is kept up to date with all of the available components for use by site editors for building pages on the Southern Adventist University website.

Overview

Welcome to the Southern Adventist University component library reference page. Here we have collected all of the content components available for use by our content editors on their departmental web pages. The purpose of this modular system is to:

  • Unify the brand and layout of web pages across campus departmental web pages
  • Make content editing easier through form based editing
  • Make it harder to break the layout by removing design concerns from editor
  • Optimize for mobile devices
  • Allow for modular redesign with quick site-wide implementation
  • Make content more visually driven and avoid the unengaging "wall of text" phenomenon

This page is a mix of training, best-practices, and policies. Each of the available components in it's most up to date form with a small description regarding it's usage. This page will be updated regularly to better serve content editors.

If you have any problems, design suggestions, new component suggestions, or other questions or feedback, contact webhelp@southern.edu

We also have training videos for each of the components. Access those by clicking the link below.

Hero Component

The hero component is for emotional impact and will always appear at the top of the page. Only one Hero components is allowed per page and every page on the site is meant to have a hero component. The background image is meant to be high resolution, attractive, and relevant to the content on the page.
  • Version 1 is the primary option for departmental home pages.
  • Version 2 includes the option to have a paragraph of text in the hero area as well as two optional call to action buttons.
  • Version 3 is for interior pages, and that's why it takes up less space than the other versions.

001 C1 Hero Version 1

001 C1 Hero V2

This is another version of the hero component, and can be used if you have a paragraph of text you want to display in the hero/banner area of the page. You can also add CTA buttons as seen below:

002 C2 WYSIWYG

The WYSIWYG component is for paragraphs of text when text formatting is required. It supports bold, italic, and underlined content as well as links, lists and text alignment options. It works similar to other text formatting applications. WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get". The WYSIWYG component has two modes: default and intro paragraph. The intro paragraph mode enlarges font slightly and adds a left-side green border to make it more emphatic.

003 C3 Feature Thumbnail List

The feature thumbnail list component is good for presenting content in a visually driven, easily scannable way. The user can click on the image or the text to see more.

004 C4 1/2 Image 1/2 Text

This component is for situations where a lot of text content is required on a page. It splits the page between images and text to make the content more visually interesting while allowing a lot of space to write text at length.

Do you have a burning desire to become a physician or lawyer? A CEO? The mayor of your home town? Despite what you have heard, the English major will prepare you for any of these goals.

So when you hear the question, "What will you do with an English major?" your answer can be a forceful "anything I want to." A major in English will prepare you perfectly for many of your dreams; in fact, majoring in English may give you an advantage!

Many people don't realize how desperate the world is for people with exceptional communication skills, broad liberal arts knowledge, awareness of how people and societies operate, and the ability to analyze. These skills are a top priority in business. After graduating with a degree in English, you can easily increase your skill set to encompass particular training that may be necessary in any future employment. By the way, nobody really knows what those technical skills will be in the next ten years! But with an English major, you will be ready to learn and absorb. You will have a great educational foundation.

Consequently, the work of education is also the work of redemption and involves the development of the whole person—spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and physical aspects.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the School of Education and Psychology at Southern Adventist University is to prepare effective Christian professionals who demonstrate a commitment to the pursuit of truth, wholeness, and a life of service in a diverse society.

007 C7 FEATURE TILE GRID

Feature key options or links using this grid of custom icons.

The skills developed in a business degree are highly-transferrable among and within multiple industries.

The diversity and plenitude of careers with a business degree underlies the subject’s appeal for many students.

Business schools excel at teaching students non-textbook skills such as the so-called ‘soft skills,’ which allows students to develop a wholistic entrepreneurial mindset.

Many students who graduate with a business degree enjoy higher than normal average salaries. According to the Department of Labor and Statistics, the median income for a career related to degrees in business begins at around $60,000 annually.

Learn from the biggest successes and failures in business history.

Connect with interesting students who have big ideas and collaborate on exciting projects.

008 C8 Feature List

The feature list component allows the user to emphasize a list of items. The items can't be hyperlinked, so the component is just for ticking through a list of items to be featured.
